The UK Heritage contains United Kingdom businesses which no longer actively sell products to policyholders and which therefore run-off gradually over time. The UK Open business includes new and in-force life insurance and investment policies in respect of products that the firm continues to actively market to new and existing policyholders. The Europe segment relates to business written in Ireland and Germany. The Management Services segment comprises of income from the life and holding companies in accordance with the respective management service agreements less fees related to the outsourcing of services and other operating costs. The Unallocated Group segment involves the consolidation adjustments and group financing which are managed on a group basis and are not allocated to individual operating segments. The company was founded in 1782 and is headquartered in London, the United Kingdom.
