Founded in the US in 1993 by brothers David and Tom Gardner, The Motley Fool is a multimedia financial-services company dedicated to building the world's greatest investment community.
The Motley Fool champions shareholder values and advocates tirelessly for the individual investor. The company's name was taken from Shakespeare, whose wise fools both instructed and amused, and could speak the truth to the king -- without getting their heads chopped off!
In 1997, we launched the UK version of The Motley Fool and that's the website you're looking at right now.
Our US site can be found at www.Fool.com.
And our Australian site is at www.Fool.com.au.
Our Mission, Vision, and Values

What We Do
The Motley Fool aims to provide solutions for investors of every kind. Our products and services -- whether free or fee-based, online or offline -- are designed to help people take control of their investments.
Our offerings include:
The Fool's award-winning website publishes dozens of articles each week covering company results, share ideas, portfolio management, asset allocation and much, much more. Fool.co.uk has distribution partnerships with sites such as Yahoo! and we also have a thriving community on our discussion boards where all sorts of financial (and non-financial) issues are debated.
Share Advisor is our main share recommendation service. Led by David Kuo, it also features James Early, Charly Travers, Nate Weisshaar and Nathan Parmelee. Members get two recommendations per month, plus weekly updates reviewing the progress of previous tips, the latest investing news and educational content.
Champion Shares PRO is a £50,000 real money investment portfolio that aims to provide superior investment ideas. It's run by a team of 3 advisors, Owain Bennallack, Nate Weisshaar and Nathan Parmelee, and their goal is to identify great companies that are trading at prices that could offer superior long-term value.
This service is provided on the Fool’s behalf by Halifax Share Dealing Limited, which is part of Lloyds Banking Group plc. It offers low-cost trading through ordinary dealing accounts, Self-Select ISAs or Self-Invested Personal Pensions (SIPP). It also offers a low-cost regular purchase scheme called ShareBuilder.
David Kuo is The Motley Fool's media personality and makes many TV and radio appearances each week talking about the stock market and the state of the economy. He can be heard on BBC London's (97.4FM) Breakfast Show where he arouses listeners every weekday morning with his unique brand of financial news. He is also a regular commentator on national news programmes including CNBC, BBC News, and Sky News.
In early 2009, we set up a separate site called lovemoney.com to focus on personal finance issues. This is now a separate company, in which The Motley Fool has a minority holding, and you will find links to its product comparison centres on our site.
