PRESS RELEASE
A Financial Workshop For Women In Scotland

November 19, 2003

Calling all Scotswomen! Do you wonder where your money goes every month? Do you want to get a handle on your money but find it all too boring and confusing to bear? Do you yearn to see Cliff D'Arcy in a blonde wig and high heels?

Then the Motley Fool financial workshop for women is for you. The workshop, called Taking Control of Your Money, will be given by financial expert and stand-up comedian (yes really!) Jasmine Birtles, co-author of 'A Girl's Best Friend Is Her Money' (Boxtree £12.99), aided and abetted by Motley Fool writer Cliff D'Arcy.

There will be two workshops in Scotland: one in Glasgow on Monday 26th January 2004 and the second in Edinburgh on Tuesday 27th January 2004.

The workshops follow on from a successful run of London seminars for women, all of which sold out within a week of launching.

"Women are actually very good at dealing with their money once they get the idea," says Birtles. "It's just that we've had so many centuries of being told not to worry 'our pretty little heads' about it that we have a lot of catching up to do. Once women do understand money and investing, though, they actually do better than men."

Any woman who attends this workshop will find out how to:

  • Take control of her finances and stop them controlling her
  • Learn to get out of debt painlessly and stay out of debt
  • Become wealthy without trying too hard
  • Have a retirement full of cruises and toy boys instead of cat food and day-centres
