Ah, Marconi. I remember way back ... 2000'ish ... when it announced it was getting into telecoms. Right at the height of the tech boom. I remember thinking at the time that it would all end in disaster for them. Little did I realise just how disasterous! Fast forward a few years, when they hit trouble so publicly. As the bad news dragged on, I was thinking that things probably weren't as bad as many had suggested. Good job I didn't back hunch, as I would have seen my money go to zero. In only goes to show ... sometimes the news really is as bad as it seems, and it doesn't always pay to be contrarian.
