Whether you're a beginner or an experienced investor, the Motley Fool will help you profit from investing -- here's a quick tour of our resources.
Education
Knowledge is power, and we can help you educate yourself in a variety of ways:
- Articles. Why not browse our archives, where you can find opinion pieces on investment strategy, and reviews of companies. There's an excellent index of tutorials here, and if you haven't already signed up for our regular email service, you can do so by editing your 'My Email Subscriptions' at My Fool;
FoolSchool. Our grind school on all aspects of investing and money management;
- Glossary. Like almost every activity, investing has a jargon of its own, but don't let that put you off -- you can check terms quickly using our glossary;
- Discussion Boards. Investing need not be a solitary activity, and regardless of your experience your fellow Fools will always make you welcome on our discussion boards. This article will help you locate the main investment boards, while this one explains some boards-specific terms. Be careful though, our boards can be addictive!
- Champion Shares. Our in-house guru Maynard Paton tips a new investment every month, and reviews many other prospects. You can check them out now, without obligation, by taking a 30-day free trial, and then sign up at a specially reduced price of £99 a year afterwards.
Practicalities
Having decided what to buy, we can help you with the nuts and bolts of dealing:
- Start Trading. You can buy and sell shares simply and cheaply via The Motley Fool Share Dealing Service
- Tracker Funds in ISAs. Stock-picking is not for everybody, and if index-tracking in an ISA is your thing you can find out more here.
Tracking your investment
Having parted with money, you'll want to keep an eye on your investment:
- Company announcements. Companies are obliged to report results and any other significant developments, and you can read them all with our announcements service. You can also set up email alerts, so that you get the news as soon as the market does;
- Checking prices. If you just want to know the current share price, you can check it here;
- Company reports. Most reports are available on company websites, but if you'd like your own paper copy we can supply these free of charge for many companies;
Paying your dues
When you invest, there's always a risk of losing money, but if you're wondering what tax you'll have to pay on your profits, or on anything else, why not check out our tax guide.
We're here to hold your hand right through the process -- why not bookmark this page and keep it for reference. If we've forgotten anything, or if you have any ideas, we'd welcome your feedback on our Improve the Fool Site board.
Wishing you happy and successful investing!
