How To Become A More Foolish Investor

Published in Investing on 12 November 2012

One Fool believes that, much like charity, investing begins at home...

In this video aimed at novice investors, TMF editor Sam Robson extols the virtues of looking around you for successful companies in your day-to-day life. Most successful brands have a publicly listed company behind them -- PG Tips, for instance, is owned by Unilever (LSE: ULVR). Sam goes on to explain part of Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL.US) success, and how this quality is pivotal for companies if they are to continue their success into the future. Finally, he looks at aspects that comprise a winning management team.

I've always been a bit suspicious of guinea pigging yourself as part of an investment decision.

It seems that whenever Tesco is mentioned, the comments tend to drift into anecdotal regional reports. At the end of the day, you're just one consumer in one community. And I invest in plenty of companies whose products I have no interest in.
