Iomart (LSE: IOM) and Tate & Lyle (LSE: TATE) rise on positive updates.
The FTSE 100 (UKX) recovered a tiny bit of yesterday's fall this morning, rising 10 points to 5,779 points in the first couple of hours' trading. But there are still plenty of jitters over Spain's deteriorating economy and increasing unrest over further austerity measures.
Even if the overall market is wobbly there are still individual companies in the various indices heading upwards. Here are three rising today...
Iomart
Iomart Group (LSE: IOM) was a nice early riser, with a 12.5p (7.7%) jump to 175p, on the release of its pre-close statement ahead of interim results. Revenues and profits at the cloud computing operator are "substantially ahead of the comparative period last year", and the company is confident that it will beat current forecasts.
Is cloud computing a new trend that is likely to be profitable for growth investors? It's certainly been good for Iomart investors so far, who have seen a six-fold rise since 2009.
Tate & Lyle
An upbeat half-year update from Tate & Lyle (LSE: TATE) was met with a price rise of 17p (2.6%) to 672p. Essentially, things are pretty much in line with current expectations at the food producer, with volume growth expected from its speciality food ingredients business and stable demand for sweeteners.
There's a dividend of around 4% expected for the full year, and the firm does have some debt -- it's a good bit lower than it has been in recent years, but we should keep an eye on it in the results, due on 8 November.
TUI Travel
TUI Travel (LSE: TT), which I just added to our Beginners' Portfolio watchlist, saw its shares gain a modest 4p (1.7%) to 234p after releasing a trading update. The travel firm saw strong trading for the summer high season, and the winter season is also off to a good start. Margins are improving, and things are on track to meet current full year expectations.
And those expectations include a dividend yield of around 5% from shares that are on a forward price-to-earnings ratio of under 10.
