very interesting, from both an investing and a non-investing point-of-view.

I enjoyed this too..thanks David and Lars.!

Hi shinygoldcar, Hi dippydoji

I only managed to cover a fraction of what Lars wrote about in his book. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to talk about the growth of luxury brands and lifestyle changes over the next decades. But you can read about it if you win a copy of his book in this week's competition!

Best regards

David

Big hello

Very interesting but misguided in parts. I think Lars has taken a massive leaf out of the other infamous Dane Bjorn Lomborg (the sceptical environmentalist) who claims that our vital ecosystems and natural resources are happily improving and that technology will solve our accumulating problems. Lars, as a fellow Dane, I expected deeper analysis and greater balance on an issue which is very likely to pose the biggest threat to future economic prosperity let alone human wellbeing.

Interesting nevertheless,

Best,

Henrik Joegensen

This is the first time I've taken the trouble to make a post of this kind so that should give you an idea how much I enjoyed the podcast.

Enjoyed it immensely and found it completely fascinating. Whether he is right or not only time will tell but a lot of what he said made complete sense and loved his analysis and thought process.

Get him back at least every 6 months for more insights.

Regards
Paul

Hi Doshslosh

Lars refers to Bjorn Lomborg in his book. He also looked at “The Al Gore view”, “The Henrik Svensmark view” and the “Ray Kurzweil view” in Chapter 7 too.

The chapter is 28 pages long and we could have done an entire podcast on the subject of “Environmental and Resource Strain” on its own to do the subject justice. Unfortunately, I only have 30 minutes. So the fault lies with me and the sands of time.

Hi paulprescott

I believe it was a famous Dane, Niels Bohr, who said: "Prediction is very difficult, especially about the future."

Great stuff David and Lars -- don't agree with all of his predictions, but a pleasant change from the doom and gloom we hear so often from pundits.

TMFDragon 23 May 2011 , 7:24am

Hi All

Thank you to everyone who took part in the competition to win a copy of Lars Tvede's book.

The answer to the quiz question is Berne.

The winner of the competition is: KY from London.

Well done KY.

Best regards

About the presenter

David Kuo is The Motley Fool’s media personality. He can be heard on BBC London’s (94.9FM) Breakfast Show where he arouses listeners every weekday morning with his unique brand of financial news. He is also a regular commentator on national news programmes including CNBC, BBC News, and Sky News.

David stumbled into the world of broadcasting at the turn of the Millennium when he was invited to comment on the stock market crash. He says, “I think I stunned Londoners speechless when I said the good thing about the crash is that shares are now more affordable for people who want to invest in the stock market!”

His attitude to investing has never wavered, as he always sees downturns in the market as a buying opportunity for long-term investors.
