I am more interested in drawdown option9pension pot £ 150,000+.Is there an inflation indexed draw down plan available please ?My age is 63.5(Retired at 60)

I know this requires savvi-ness, but if rising annuities are poor value-for-money compared to fixed ones, they why don't people take the fixed annuity, live off what they would have received from the rising one, and save/invest the rest. If they live the twelve-or-so years, then they can top up the fixed annuity income with the surplus that has been put away!

in response to the question about inflation indexed draw down plan, the quick answer is there isn't such a thing but a longer answer is that there is nothing stopping you taking a drawdown plan where the income starts below the minimum but increases each year - you simply use the income flexibility option of drawdown.

in response to question about rising annuities - an actuary friend wrote a paper saying that it is better to take the level annuity but not spend all of it and save some income to use as protection against inflation - only problem is most people will spend all the income immediately
