How The Election Will Affect Your Wealth

In this week’s episode:

Who will occupy 11 Downing Street after the General Election? Does it really matter whether it is Alistair Darling, Vince Cable or George Osborne? Could it even be the last Conservative Chancellor, Ken Clarke? David Kuo finds out when he chats with the "King of the Airwaves", the "Voice of Reason" and the "Face" of BGC Partners, David Buik. A transcript is also available. Apologies for the cameo from an unidentified opera singer in the background. Thankfully, MoneyTalk will be soon moving to purpose-built, sound-proofed studios!

Good interview - about 30 minutes - but some highlights are: Hung Parliament better than a Labour majority; move jobs from public to private sector;Quantitive Easing needs to be kept and has stopped UK having 5million unemployed; Labour got us into this problem but are doing the right things to get us out of the problem;Too many non-clinical workers in the NHS earning over £100,000;Best areas to invest may be energy, technology and mining;

Hi hicidata,

I was very interested to hear David Buik's take on the over-bloated public sector. I guess the upshot is whether public sector workers would vote for any party other than Labour if it means they could lose their jobs as a result.

About the presenter

David Kuo is The Motley Fool’s media personality. He can be heard on BBC London’s (94.9FM) Breakfast Show where he arouses listeners every weekday morning with his unique brand of financial news. He is also a regular commentator on national news programmes including CNBC, BBC News, and Sky News.

David stumbled into the world of broadcasting at the turn of the Millennium when he was invited to comment on the stock market crash. He says, “I think I stunned Londoners speechless when I said the good thing about the crash is that shares are now more affordable for people who want to invest in the stock market!”

His attitude to investing has never wavered, as he always sees downturns in the market as a buying opportunity for long-term investors.
