Balance transfer rates apply when you switch a balance from one credit card to another credit card. Balance transfer rates tend to be lower than standard interest rates and apply to the balance transferred either for a limited period of time or until it is repaid in full.
Some credit cards may offer introductory interest rates for new purchases that are lower than the standard interest rates for new purchases. This introductory rate is usually for a specified term, after which the standard rate applies to all credit card purchases, new purchases included.
APR stands for Annual Percentage Rate. APR is the percentage rate (percentage of your borrowings) which your borrowings will cost you each year. APR includes all charges, such as interest and annual fees. Where a typical APR is quoted, the company must offer that rate or better to at least 66% of customers who successfully apply for that credit card. APR or typical APR should always be quoted to you when you apply for a credit card.
Some credit cards offer loyalty schemes, reward schemes, such as Air Miles or bonus points whenever you use your credit card. Be warned that credit cards with loyalty schemes often have annual fees, so be sure the loyalty scheme is worth it before you apply! Cashback credit cards are credit cards that reward you for using them by giving you cash back, usually a percentage of the amount you have spent on your cashback credit card.
