No Advertising or Solicitation
It is against our rules to advertise or solicit for business anywhere on our discussion boards without our permission. This rule is strictly enforced, and if violated, may result in the cancellation of your membership.
Solicitation includes, but is not limited to, requests to be e-mailed, the posting of phone numbers for your business, and the posting of one's own website address, if that site has a substantial commercial element to it. We employ a particularly strict interpretation of this policy with regard to "sign up and mention me" messages promoting various pyramid marketing schemes. Most of these organisations have a responsible anti-spam policy. When we report abuse of our boards to them they will typically cancel the membership of the guilty party.
Our readers are sophisticated users of the Internet. They are aware that our site is free at the point of access because of advertising. However, they expect the advertising to stay in the banners and tiles while the text area is the domain of "civil discussion for mutual benefit". This is like the difference between what you can say on a TV programme and what you could show in a commercial break.
If you see any message which you think is inappropriate, just use the Report this Post link to let us know about it.
