Every major smart phone maker except Apple is using Corning's Gorilla Glass in their smart phones. Tablet makers, television manufacturers are all using Corning's materials to produce their newest TVs and displays. Don't think this is all Corning does though; they are also a major player in telecom, healthcare and environmental sectors. This stock has been rated HOLD for over 500 days but share price is up 20% over that period. I think the consensus is going to start shifting positively pretty soon and that is only going to drive the share price.

Oh yeah, this is my first CAPS rating so beginners luck says I have to hit this one!

Gorilla glass has induced some faith in this particular gorilla. With new technologies getting slimmer and slimmer the durability of touchscreen glass is tested constantly and they hold an edge on competitors. Add that it may translate to automakers in the near future and that just gives the innovator that much more of an edge.

Corning rules Fiber Optics and Glass in the tech industry. Glass in the form of Cell Phone screens, Gorilla Glass etc... will continue to rise as smart phones proliferate. With data, Cell phones and internet access proliferating there will be a need for fiber optics cables, and the answer to that in the western world is Corning.

A relatively cheap dividend stock with a trailing P/E of 12.3, in an innovative and long standing company, in a not so innovative industry.

They produce an innovative kind of tough glass for smartphones, flexible fiber cables, glass for TV's, ceramics and much more.

They have positioned themself as a brand in a lot of consumers mind with the Gorilla Glass, a uniquely durable kind of glass.

They have developed a fiber that is suitable for installing the last stretch to the consumer, tolerating more bending than other fibers.

Their unique and innovative products, targeted at a sort of niche in the tech industry, will probably secure them some nice margins and not too tough competition. They are experiencing some growth and might continue growing with the growth in smartphones, tablets and fiber to the home.

Besides being relatively cheap, they also pay a decent dividend of 2.8% at a reasonable payout ratio (28%). And they have loads of cash to weather harsh times.

So I think this is a pretty safe bet, with a nice potential.

Such a laggard for three years,,, mngt. must get tough on margins. They have great products, not that easy for Asian comp. to duplicate quality. Should boom with next big thing in TV's.

I believe touch screens will be everywhere soon and they will be made with Gorilla Glass. This company has been around a long time. They know how to move with the times. The money they are putting into R&D now will pay big dividends later.

America, Corning, Invented, Thomas Edison's light bulb to the Gorilla Glass for Apple's iPhon, for Steve Jobs. I am proud to be part of history! Yes founded in 1851 by Amory Houghton, in Somerville, Massachusetts, originally as the Bay State Glass Co. It later moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York, and operated as the Brooklyn Flint Glass Works. The company moved again to its ultimate home and namesake, the city of Corning, New York, in 1868! I was born 100 years later! Chang is AWESOME.. under leadership of the founder's son, Amory Houghton, Jr.

Over 140 years later, Corning continues to maintain its world headquarters at Corning, N.Y. The firm also established one of the first industrial research labs there in 1908. It continues to expand the nearby research and development facility, as well as operations associated with catalytic converters and diesel engine filter product lines. Corning has a long history of community development and has assured community leaders that it intends to remain headquartered in its small upstate New York hometown
I LOVE MONKIES!
Gorilla Glass was used in the first iPhone released in 2007 according to the book "Steve Jobs" THINK ABOUT IT!
STEVE JOBS....APPLE.....history is now our future! Goggle...should RESPECT...our Country's history and Future...Who else can still create a unthinkable future and I am excited to here the "Big News" what Steve Jobs, Apple and Corning and I quote It’s a message Jobs sent the day the iPhone came out: “We couldn’t have done it without you.”
Over its 150-year history Corning invented a process for rapid and inexpensive production of light bulbs (Corning developed the glass for Thomas Edison's light bulb)

I am ready and eager to see what is next! Come on our Mr. President:)

A small town Girl that "The American Dream" is UN STOPPABLE

"Global glass technology leader" may be a pretty substantial moat for this mature and experienced company. GLW products become part of products that we will need more of for the foreseeable future: smartphones and construction.

I think Corning will eventually be able to shift to higher growth. When the market takes notice it will move. I believe there will be a lot of demand when things get better for the company.

Overlooked until recently. Insiders are buying. Stock price is lagging behind its record earnings. iWatch may shake things up. I'm betting on Corning getting some love soon.
