Most beaten down sector out there, and evidence of some insider buys at the mining companies lead me to take a flyer on this. I am not putting money from my pocket here - just a CAPS call that I think has favorable odds.

Nov 2012: In my opinion, this will be the last correction you can buy juniors at this level before the long anticipated run up, which will probably start in the 1/2 half of 2013 and last a year or two.

Gold looks good technically and I have major concerns over the Fiscal Cliff at the end of year causing a run up in Gold. Usually I am not a fan of Gold, but we are running out of areas to put risk averse money. Gold Miners are super cheap right now as well.

An exchange traded fund that focuses on mid size gold and silver mining firms. The composite forward price earnings ratio is roughly 11x while price to book is around 2x. There are major political risks for miners operating in various developing nations (as host nations like to extract more from "guests"), but the diversification of this fund partially mitigates the risk.
