BX seems to have bottomed out after falling ~30% since June 2007 IPO. Switching to OUTPERFORM based on very solid 2Q FY07 earnings and a big news day for The Blackstone Group overall:
1. "Shares of Blackstone Group
2. "Travelport of the United States, a subsidiary of Blackstone Group
3. "Global investment firm Blackstone Group is opening a real estate office in Tokyo to hunt for deals in Japan's booming property market. Blackstone is raising a $10 billion global real estate fund, one of the biggest ever. Part of this fund may be deployed in Japan."
4. "India's Power Finance Corp.
Could the firm be dragged down further by tightening credit? Yes. So, too, by a correction in emerging markets.
However - like it or not - this company is global and diversifying ever more. Picking stocks is not about whether we think the guys running the show are crooks for something they did 35 years ago; rather, whether they deliver profitability.

Im glad I didnt get sucked into the hype of this stock in real life, it is however killing my caps score. You have to give it to them, sell to the dumb public at the top and pay next to nothing it taxes to boot! I would guess over a long enough period this will be a decent performer but for the near term...choke yourself if you won it.

Blackstone is a wizard of a company. Unfortunately, a lot of negative hype has surrounded the company and as a result has played into the minds of investors. However, this could be considered as a value buy where in due time this stock would outperform in the future. Schwarzmann knows how to make money and I'm riding it on the confidence that he wants more money.

Great company, cashing out of private equity at the right time. Chinese Goverment has 3 billion invested in company. May see a little drop off as in the case of most IPO's, but will be a $100 stock in a few years
